This will be the 1st live performance from Space Invadas, which is tipped to do big things, both at home here in Aus and internationally. It is the brainchild of Australia’s internationally renowned producer Katalyst and UK soul vocalist Steve Spacek. Also performing during the week we have Aussie hip hop pioneers Koolism, who are about to release a new long awaited album later this year, DJs Danialsan (Koolism), Katalyst (DJ set), Mr Rex, S1 as well as Motley and Perplex the Australian DMC champion.
Koolism’s long-awaited fifth album is titled, The ‘Umu (pron. Oo-moo). After a three-year hiatus, DJ/ producer, Danielsan, and MC, Hau, are ready to unleash an album filled with the usual Koolism ingredients – soul, love and hip hop. Hau explains the meaning behind the title: “‘Umu” is a Tongan word for an underground oven - a cooking technique that is practiced throughout the South Pacific. It’s a long and tiring process in which to prepare and to cook food slowly and thoroughly, but its results are rewarding and enjoyed by all who feast on it. That’s what I feel this album is like. A lot of time, money, heart and soul went into making this album, in which many cases, made it quite gruelling and trying. But after all that, the fruits of our labour are now ready to enjoy. And you know how Tongans eat, so you better get a big plate and fill it up!” The ‘Umu will be ready 2009, so get your forks and knives ready.
DJ Danielsan Vs Katalyst will be a night of Australia's heavyweight producers DJs going head to head.
DJ Perplex is the Australian DMC Champion for the past 3 years running. 2006, 2007, 2008.
